The exhibit, curated by Jo Brown and Bob Egan, features 20 landscapes of prairies, city parks, farmers’ markets, and historic sites. Each piece incorporates vibrantly colored handmade Japanese papers and dozens or hundreds of intricately folded paper sculptures. “I hope that through my detailed, slow art, viewers will look anew at their lives and see that each day can be a celebration,” says artist Linda Stephen.

The Small Works Collective Show features artworks up to 8″ x 11″ by artists who have been featured in Bryan Art Gallery since it opened in October 2014. The goal of the gallery is to promote healing, to enhance the quality of life and to reaffirm the human spirit through the visual arts.

Exhibit celebrates the 100th anniversary of the National Parks Service and showcases some of the plant species found throughout 400+ national parks. Linda’s “Blossoming Smooth Milkweed” (Asclepias sullivanti) from invented origami and handmade Japanese papers represents the Homestead National Monument of America and the prairie landscapes of the Midwest.

Exhibit of more than 15 works of intricate paper art inspired by places of daily joy in Nebraska and beyond. Linda Stephen’s origami collages are part of private and public collections around the world, from the Mayor’s Office in Omihachiman, Japan to the J.W. Marriott in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Fluent in Japanese, Linda lived and worked in Japan for seven years. Her art has been featured in more than 100 juried solo or group exhibits across the country including the Nebraska Arts Council’s Fred Simon Gallery in Omaha.
