As part of Lincoln’s First Friday Art Walk December 1st, the Nonprofit Hub will be exhibiting a collection of Linda Stephen’s origami collage art on the third floor of the nonprofit space.
Come for the drinks and appetizers from 5-7 p.m. Friday December 1. Feeling crafty? Fold an origami ornament; stay for the good company and conversation. Friends and family are always welcome to join – the more the merrier! We’d love to kick off the weekend with you. If you can’t make it to the event, stop by our building between 8:00-5:00 December 1-27 to see the art. Closed December 25. Free and open to the public.
Linda volunteers more than 500 hours a year for local organizations including the Girl Scouts Spirit of Adventure program, Boy Scouts Troop 25, Lincoln Public Schools, the Seniors Foundation of Lincoln & Lancaster County, the Lincoln Artists’ Guild, Homestead National Monument of America and the Nebraska State Stroke Association.

“38th Paper in Particular” National Juried Exhibition

Linda’s origami collage “The Dream,” 20″ x 24″, a homestead farm on the prairie in August, is one of the paperworks selected. Origami elements include a windmill, sod house, chickens, pigs, children walking, prairie grasses, yellow partridge pea and blue vervain prairie flowers.
Paper In Particular is a annual, juried exhibition held by the Columbia College art galleries. The exhibition showcases the very best in art that incorporates paper as a primary element. Prints, drawings, photographs, digital images, paintings, sculpture, etc., are all eligible.
The 38th Annual Paper In Particular exhibition will run from February 20 – March 31, 2017 in the Columbia College Sidney Larson Gallery. The judge is Ben Cameron, Professor Emeritus at Columbia College, MO where he taught painting, drawing and printmaking from 1974-2014. He started Paper In Particular 38 years ago.

- Linda’s homestead-inspired “Osage Orange Hedgerow,” 3D paper bas relief is made from paper sculptures and paper layers using Japanese fabric papers and chigiri-e papers.
