Commissioned Origami Art Landscapes
We work with corporations, not-for-profits, schools, cities and private individuals to create one-of-a-kind 3D sculptural origami landscapes to celebrate a place or a time. We can create a scene inspired by a real place (like a town square, a historical landmark or a hotel’s lobby) or a fictional scene. See our gallery.
The creation process for custom pieces takes between six weeks and four months and starts with interviews to find out the history, stories and goals related to the piece and types of colors preferred (black & white, pastels, primary colors, lots of colors). We then take reference photos, put together rough sketches for the layout, invent origami shapes for the key sculptural elements and start choosing the core papers. Like construction for a building, Linda Stephen start with a foundation of colors and over hundreds of steps, adds in new elements.
Framing, matting, glass and shipping are extra. For framing, we work with Against the Wall Gallery, which builds custom shadow boxes for our work (and wooden shipping boxes).
